The process of setting up Brighthouse Spectrum email service on Microsoft Outlook varies depending on what version of Outlook you’ve currently employed. Most of the Outlook versions, especially the recent editions of 2013, 2016, and 2019, offer an automatic setup option, while others may give you a little headache.

However, if the Automatic setup isn’t working on your version of Outlook, you can choose to setup manually as the option is available.

Regardless of what Outlook version you’re using, you still need to have a Brighthouse Spectrum User ID and Password. Below is explained in details the process of how to add Spectrum email to Outlook 2013, 2016, and 2019.

Automatic Configuration of Brighthouse Spectrum email

To add your Brighthouse Spectrum email automatically:

  1. Navigate to the “Start Menu” at the bottom left side on your screen, and click on “Outlook” application
  2. Select the “File” tab
  3. From the “Info” category, open the drop-down list and select “Account Settings>Account Settings”
  4. Select the “Email” tab
  5. Select “New”
  6. Go the Auto Account Setup located underneath the Email Account section
    • Give your First and Last name in the “User Name” field
    • Enter your Brighthouse Spectrum email “Username”
    • Enter your Brighthouse Spectrum email “Password”
    • Retype the “Password” for confirmation
    • You’ll get an option to enable Outlook Automatically enter your Password when you log in to your account. Click on “Save” tab to help Outlook remember your password in the list.
  7. Select “Next”, and then the Auto Account Setup process will initiate. You’ll receive a confirmation email on your email address when the configuration process is complete.
  8. Remember, if you fail in the first attempt, you can try again, but for the third time, you must do the configurations manually.
  9. Click on “Finish>Close to end the process

How to configure the Outlook versions of 2013, 2016 and 2019 manually?

To add the Brighthouse Spectrum account manually:

  1. Navigate to the “Start Menu” at the bottom left side on your screen, and click on “Outlook” application
  2. Select the “File” tab
  3. From the “Info” category, open the drop-down list and select “Account Settings>Account Settings”
  4. Select the “Email” tab
  5. Select “New”
  6. Select “Manual Setup or additional server types’ and then Click on the “Next” button
  7. Select IMAP, and then click on “Next”
  8. Enter the following under the User Information tab
    • Give your First and last name in the “User Name” field
    • Enter your Brighthouse Spectrum email address
  9. Type the following under the server information tab
    • Select IMAP
    • Enter your Incoming mail server: mobile.charter.net
    • Enter your ongoing mail server: mobile.charter.net
  10. Type the following under the Login Information tab
    • Enter your Brighthouse Spectrum email ID in the “User Name” field
    • Enter your Brighthouse Spectrum email “Password”
    • Click on the “remember password” tab, if you want Outlook to save and enter your password automatically when you log in to your account.
    • Select “Require Login by using Secure Password Authentication” checkbox.
  11. Go to the “Test Account Settings”, you must ensure these things to be in place:
    • Make sure to have a robust Internet connection
    • Make sure to have logged on to the server
    • You’ll receive a test message to inform you about any changes made by the Outlook to the initial setup, and then click “Next”
  12. Click on “Finish>Close to end the process
